WSAC Ibex – Wageningen
The Capra ibex, better known as the ibex, is an exceptionally skilled climber. The more inhospitable the terrain, the more at home it feels. It prefers to be among steep snowfields and sheer rock faces. The Wageningen Student Alpine Club Ibex is there for those who feel a connection with this natural climber. Do you want to explore and push your limits in the mountains, rocks, or the climbing gym? Do you enjoy long walks in the Veluwe region? Or perhaps you’re looking for something in between? NijSAC – Nijmegen
NijSAC stands for the Nijmegen Student Alpine Club and was founded in 1984. A number of Nijmegen students decided that Nijmegen could no longer lag behind other student cities where Student Alpine Clubs had been active for much longer. Since then, NijSAC has grown into an association with approximately 80 members and 20 donors. Both old and new climbers practice their hobby, climbing, within NijSAC.
NijSAC focuses primarily on sport climbing and, to a lesser extent, hiking and mountaineering. This is simply because the association has year-round access to the climbing wall at the sports center and the nearby climbing center. Climbing weekends are regularly organized in neighboring countries. Besides these climbing and hiking activities, NijSAC is, above all, a friendly association, regularly organizing members’ evenings in pubs in Nijmegen.

SAC alumni, not affiliated with the NSAC:
XSAC
The XSAC isn’t an officially affiliated SAC, but it’s made up of former SAC members who still enjoy heading to the mountains together. The XSAC is open to anyone who was a member of a Student Alpine Club (SAC) in the country. Members range in age from recent graduates to well into retirement, from 35 to 85. That might sound strange, but it’s actually quite enjoyable, because everyone shares the same passion for the mountains and has wonderful stories about climbs, exciting trips, or fun weekends of climbing.
