The XSAC

Finished your student days? Back to work? Family? Kids out of the house? For everyone who used to climb with the NSAC or one of the SACs, there is the XSAC, the Ex Student Alpine Club. What does that entail?

The XSAC was founded about 20 years ago by a group of former climbers who enjoyed keeping in touch occasionally.

Fall reunion
The XSAC’s main activity is its annual autumn reunion. You can meet former members of Student Alpine Clubs, listen to fascinating lectures about expeditions or climbing, and enjoy a snack and a drink. In recent years, around 75 former XSAC members have gathered. The autumn reunion is usually held in late November/early December at Het Beauforthuis near Zeist.

Other activities
Occasionally, there are other activities, sometimes organized by the board, sometimes by members. These range from rock climbing to hiking, cycling, canoeing, or other outdoor activities. Anyone who’s interested is welcome to join in; the atmosphere is always very relaxed.

For who?
The XSAC is open to anyone who has been a member of a Student Alpine Club (SAC) in the country. So whether you are a former USAC, GSAC, ESAC or whatever. The age ranges from recently graduated to well after retirement, from 35 to 85. That may sound strange, but it is actually a lot of fun, because everyone shares the same passion for the mountains and has great stories about climbs, exciting tours or fun climbing weekends..

Want to become a member of the XSAC or find out more?
XSAC membership costs just €15 per year. Do you have any questions? Want to come and see for yourself? Or would you like to learn more first? Mail xstudentenalpenclub@gmail.com. You’re very welcome, we’d love to hear from you. And don’t forget to bring along your old friends, it’ll be even more fun.
