Alpine Snow Sport

NSAC Alpine Snow Sports Courses

The NSAC Alpine Snow Sports courses are designed to prepare young winter athletes for a future in ski touring, freeriding, or simply mastering technically solid piste skiing. The program is divided into three levels, ranging from complete beginner to advanced off-piste.

While some very motivated students might progress through all three in one go, we highly recommend taking time between courses to practice and improve your skills independently.

More information on dates and prices are here. Enthusiastic? Registration is possible here.

Alpine Snow Sports 1 (ASS1)

This course is for the true beginners — the ones who have never taken a ski lift before, or who still find themselves falling every few meters on a green slope.

Goal
You’ll learn the essential techniques to ski down green and blue slopes with comfort and control. How do you hold your poles? How do you make proper turns? Should you lean forward or backward on your skis? By the end of this course, you’ll know the answers — and rolling down won’t be your fastest option anymore.

Entry requirements

  • Enthusiasm is all you need.
  • Expect to spend six full days on the slopes, so being reasonably fit will help.

Alpine Snow Sports 2 (ASS2)

This course is for skiers who already have a couple of weeks of experience and want to refine their technique. Maybe you’ve taken lessons before and thought: “I wish I had paid more attention.” Then ASS2 is the perfect entry point.

Goal
To sharpen and polish your basic techniques: carving cleaner turns, leaning forward with more confidence, and using your poles with precision. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to ski red slopes comfortably — and black slopes will no longer seem impossible.

Entry requirements

  • Confident skiing on blue slopes (around 2 weeks of experience).
  • Six full days on the slopes: a decent fitness level is useful.

Alpine Snow Sports 3 (ASS3)

Ready to leave the pistes behind? ASS3 is for those who ski comfortably on everything from green to black, but want to explore what lies beyond the groomed runs. This course introduces you to off-piste skiing in a safe and controlled way, preparing you for future freeride or ski touring courses.

Goal
To make you fully independent on the slopes and give you the foundations of off-piste skiing. After this course, no piste color will intimidate you, and you’ll know when and how to safely venture off-piste.

Entry requirements

  • Confident skiing on red and black slopes (around 4 weeks of experience).
  • Six full days on the slopes: reasonable fitness is expected.
