This year, we will kick off the WP on November 24th at Snowworld Zoetermeer!
This day will be filled with fun activities with a didactic touch. The beginners from ASS1 will take their first steps on the snow, ASS3, F1, and T1 will practice avalanche beacon searches, and ASS2 will have the opportunity to warm up for the upcoming winter with some skiing. There will also be an interesting lecture to spark your winter inspiration.
The T1 and F1 participants will also complete a questionnaire to certify their knowledge of avalanche science, which is a prerequisite for their course. You can read more about this on the T1 and F1 pages.
There will also be a moment during the day when you will need to ski a little. An instructor will assess whether your skiing skills are sufficient for your course. To avoid any surprises, it’s important to carefully read the entry requirements for each course. We won’t be overly strict, so don’t worry too much! However, we may decide that another course might be better suited to ensure you gain the most knowledge during the WP.
The kick-off is mandatory for all participants of the ASS1, ASS2, ASS3, T1, and F1 courses. The price for the kick-off is included in the course fee. If you really can’t attend, please inform the WP commissioner during registration. Other participants, cooking staff, instructors, and visitors are also welcome at the kick-off to enjoy the slopes, the lecture, and the winter atmosphere. There will be an option to register for this on the registration form. The cost for this is €35.
Equipment is not arranged for the kick-off, so make sure to dress appropriately and check the website for rental options. You can do this via https://www.snowworld.com/zoetermeer/en/ski-slope.
